Using "The Footsteps Of Paul" as a Seminar or Small Group
While this series is excellent for personal or family devotions, it was designed to be used in Small Group Bible Studies and evangelistic programs. Here are suggestions on how to use this series evangelistically and resources for advertising it.
1. Establish a start time (for example Wednesday 7:30 PM). Turn on your projector or television and display the Welcome screen for the desired episode before people arrive. Give each participant a stu
dy guide as they arrive.
2. Welcome the people and begin the video by pushing the enter or play button (if possible leave some light on to provide the option of filling in the study guide during the video).
3. At the conclusion of the video, the default menu option is: "Study Guide Episode." Push Enter or Play and the first question in the printed study guide for that episode will appear on the screen. Read the question on the screen, and allow the group to give the answer. Push the Skip Forward or Enter button to display the answer. Allow time for people towrite the answer in their study guide before displaying the next question.
4. Carefully discuss the Personal Application questions and then have prayer. Be sure and check the Leader's Manual for suggestions on using the Application questions. Encourage the participants to do Exploring The Word On Your Own on page 8 of the study guide before the next meeting and invite them to arrive fifteen minutes early to discuss what they discovered.
5. Beginning with the second meeting the flow will change. At 7:15 begin by discussing what the participants discovered in Exploring The Word On Your Own from the previous study guide. At 7:30 sharp, begin the next video. (You can display the Welcome screen for that evening’s episode during the Bible study discussion.)
Leader Preparation
Watch the video episode and establish how the Online Guide links to the video episode. Fill in your lesson and prayerfully think through the Personal Application questions. Write down your ideas for prompting discussion and reflection. Go over and understand the Bible study. The Leader's Manual is based on the printed study guide and is an invaluable resource providing rich background information about the lesson. Not only does it provide the answers, it also gives suggestions on how to use the Personal Application Questions and Bible studies!
